SharePersonalize Teaching to Unlock Each Child’s Learning Potential
Classroom education has lagged in its evolution with very little progress in the last 350+ years and is therefore, not keeping up with societal evolution. As we aim to reduce classroom complexities and inequities and create inclusive learning environments, we need to understand who our learners are so that we can personalize teaching to support and foster critical, creative and higher order thinking.
Rellie’s co-founder was able to increase secondary school credit achievement by 34%, in a diverse middle school of 650 students in 2015. The objective was to reduce classroom complexities and inequities and create inclusive learning environments throughout the entire school. She set out to understand every student’s learning skill’s through manual methods, in an effort to personalize teaching strategies at the classroom level.
Despite the success, the process has not been replicated, which is why Rellie was created, to simplify the implementation of teaching strategies in the classroom. Rellie has created a data driven tool to personalize teaching at the classroom level, with a focus on higher order thinking skills. Rellie is the only tool using qualitative and quantitative data; an unbiased, child centered approach to guide learning for teachers and parents.
In 15 minutes, through an online questionnaire, a snapshot of every student’s learning skills is obtained, creating the foundation that provides teachers and parents with a data driven approach of matching cognitive data with instructional strategies, thus aligning instruction to every individual’s educational need.
The results are used to tailor instruction and assessment strategies through 7 cognitive categories, so that a teacher can teach to a students’ strengths. By understanding student’s areas of need, teachers can better support identified gaps with curricular knowledge and use this data to support classroom activities instead of simply guessing what students require to be successful.
