The launch of Rellie evolved from personal experience with our own kids. We lived the challenges they faced with digital learning and the gaps created and exacerbated by COVID-19. When we were forced to pivot to at-home learning, there were no digital tools to support their identified learning needs and more importantly, re-direct their behavior while working online within their digital classroom.
Our entire family felt the pain of the global pandemic and remote learning, and we quickly realized that technology needed to evolve for kids with special needs, but we also learned the problem was much larger. In fact, all students learn and think differently, and do not fit inside the box of traditional teaching, therefore we understood the pandemic was not the issue but a symptom that exposed the root cause.
The traditional “one size fits all” approach to teaching is creating an inequity; and many students are NOT achieving their full potential. This philosophy was our catalyst to create an Education Technology platform, with the help of AI, designed to provide a snapshot of every students’ perception of themselves as a learner but also provide teachers and parents an understanding of individual learning needs required for student success.
It takes time for a teacher to really understand a student. Rellie’s intellectual platform, referred to as PAL (The Power to Achieve and Learn) is a modern SaaS web application, providing teachers and parents a constantly updated view of students learning needs and the strategies to overcome them.
PAL makes it easy to screen a student population in 20 minutes; through a series of questions that generate best practice instructional strategies personalized to each student. This creates a baseline of the individual’s learning style and provides strategies that support student’s perceived areas of strength and needs. These tailored strategies support student learning in the classroom and at home by offering complimentary tools that can be used by teachers and parents to reinforce and provide continuity between home and school.
The current lack of human resources in classrooms means that students who struggle are not receiving the vital support they need at the classroom level to reach their full potential. Educators and parents need to immediately address the learning needs of students who require support. By providing actionable instructional strategies that can be implemented quickly, the needs of all students can be met before they fall behind and begin to struggle.
